This painting was inspired by photos I took in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico in January of 1918. The sleeping dogs and setting were re-arranged for optimal layout and the sleeping man was introduced from another photo. The incredulous tourist was moved in closer. I opened one dog's eyes to suggest dogs were alive.
